Unplug and unwind at this simple, off-the-grid coastal cabin just 50 feet from the ocean on Deer Isle. Tucked into a private, quiet deep-water setting with stunning panoramic views, this rustic retreat feels worlds away yet remains close to local conveniences- including a neighborhood market, hardware store, and gas station. It’s an ideal getaway for anyone seeking simplicity and inspiration on the Maine coast.

This unassuming house sits in one of the most spectacular locations on the island. While there is no electricity, no Wi-Fi, and no drinking water, the cabin is equipped for simple coastal living. Amenities include a propane refrigerator, propane stovetop (no oven), and propane lanterns in the living and dining areas. A granite fireplace provides warmth on cool evenings (firewood is provided).

The open sleeping loft includes one queen bed and two twins.

The cabin uses non-potable well water for the bathroom and kitchen sink. Guests provide their own drinking water- there is a public spigot at nearby Burnt Cove Market. Mindful water use is important, as the well can run dry.

Keep in mind:

Lobster boats can be seen and heard from the cabin—their day starts early, so light sleepers should be aware. 

The Mark Island foghorn can be heard from the cabin.

Stairs are required to access the sleeping loft.

The pathway to the water is uneven and rocky.

Not well suited for children under 6.

Well-behaved dogs may be considered with prior approval and an additional pet fee.
